And the Rocket's Red Glare - J4 Fireworks

What a day!  First a parade past my house.  Then the Mother of all Reunions at the North Catasauqua Playground.  All this ending with a BANG at Alumni Field with some spectacular fireworks and some family time.

Catasauqua - nice job on the fireworks.  You put the Iron Pigs to shame.  I loved the purple and green firework that occasionally lit the sky.

Parke and I left early and got a spot in the parking lot - of course, he will never forgive me for that - oh yeah he will.  We picked a shady spot to wait and soon the Reiter Family, along with the Khouri's showed up next.  Soon the Lynn & Schadler families arrived.  Some food, some snacks and a lot or laughs were next.  Then the rest of my own Werner clan showed up with the Morgans.  You know what they say - the family that watches fireworks together yells ooooooh together.

Catasauqua, I would like to thank you for a wonderful time.  I know there is one more event - the house tours tomorrow.

HISTORIC OLD HOME WEEK HOUSE TOUR
The grand finale of Old Home Week is the Historic House and Garden tour on Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 12 to 5 p.m. This is the grandest house tour HCPA has offered. The self-guided tour explores some of the beautiful homes and mansions in Catasauqua’s Historic Districts and beyond. There are 16 properties featuring original architecture of various styles, including Queen Anne, Victorian, Georgian and Federal styles. The interiors feature original woodwork, impressive staircases, stained glass windows, ornate fireplaces and parquet flooring. Catasauqua’s homes reflect Catasauqua illustrious past as the birthplace of the American Anthracite Iron Industry and one of the most prosperous towns in the United States.

On the day of the tour tickets can be purchased for $18 at The Biery House, 8 Race Street, Catasauqua. . The ticket provides a map and description of each property on the tour.

I won't be touring this year and please don't stop by my house, I'll be cutting the grass.

Sincerely though, North Catty and Catty really know how to throw a party.  I love this town.  Also, without Catasauqua in the name of the blog it would just be another day.  Happy J4 and Old Home Week to all.

and that really is ......another day in Catasauqua

The MOTHER of all Class Reunions

And what a mother it was!  Ben Ferenchak, my Red, White & Blue hat's off to you.  What a wonderful job you did along with anyone who helped you.

I have hugged more people today that I have all year.  Most of my class that I saw today, I see around town or have ran into them here or there.  But I did get to see someone who haven't seen in - oh here is where it hurts - 39 years.  Yes, I am from the class of 1975 and next year, we realized today, will be 40 years since we graduated CHS.   Ouch.

It was great to see Linda and omg, it brought memories back to me that I didn't even think I had.

And a shout out to Tracey - who wouldn't let me take her picture, but reads my blog.

There was a mass of people, smiles everywhere, with the occasional tear.

Thank you Ben, for making this such a memorable day.  Thank you Catasauqua and North Catasauqua for Old Home Week.  You make me proud to be a Catty Girl.

And that's another day in Catasauqua

The Parade passed me by - Literally - the J4 Parade-Old Home Week

Let the Festivities begin!!!!  The J4 parade just went by.  Bff's John and Judy stopped by and we all watched the parade.  It was a short parade - but it is always a great way to start J4.

I made a joke about the first year - I said it was Betty and Ed Miller along with Howard Hahn dressed as Uncle Sam and that was it for a parade.  After I said that the parade began and guess who was in the front - yup Betty and Ed along with Howard dressed as Uncle Sam!

We also had Miss Pennsylvania and General Grant in the parade, along with George Taylor Building and lots of children.  We should have such energy so early in the day.

Anyway - there are a lot of partying ahead.  Next is the MOTHER OF ALL REUNIONS up at the North Catasauqua Playground.

Check in for the reunion, is from 10 to noon. Meet with classmates at your decade tent; feel free to bring your own canopy and chairs also. Shop community group food stands for lunch. 'Gym class' is at 1. Door prize drawings at 2:30. Final exam is at 3pm (Catty Trivia). Schools out at 4pm with happy hours at various venues. Fireworks pre-show starts at 7pm at Alumni Field (now the Middle School). Don't forget to kick in toward the J4 fireworks.

Wow - what a day - see you out there.

And that's Another day in Catasauqua
